Credit Freezes are now free!

Credit freezes and credit locks differ, but each provides important protections and are fairly simple to implement. Credit freezes are free and, because they're federally guaranteed, provide stiffer legal protections than locks. Credit locks are easier for consumers to manage, but they can carry a monthly charge as a voluntary service of the credit bureau.

Both block access to your credit report, provide a safeguard against identity theft, and may reduce junk mail. For more information, visit the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).

The FTC is the reliable place to learn about obtaining your free credit report, too.
