There are two levels of real estate licensing in Massachusetts: Real Estate Broker and Real Estate Salesperson. Individuals must be actively licensed as salespersons for three years prior to becoming brokers.

After completing the mandatory education, which must be certified by the real estate school, the candidate for licensure may apply to take the examination. Application, examination, and license fees apply. Candidates for the Broker license can expect to meet additional requirements. Because the steps leading to exam day may take several weeks, students should continue to study.
The licensing examination is a 2-part test covering both national and state-specific topics. Passing it demonstrates that the test-taker has achieved a minimal level of competency. Beyond this, real estate professionals strive to absorb and learn even more over their careers.

Every state recognizes the fiduciary nature of relationships between licensees and consumers. This is a relationship formed around trust and confidence. It comes with responsibilities and exists as the all-important basis between us and them.
